Afghan Taliban announces to reopen universities across country
KABUL (TSAT) - Afghan Taliban government has announced that all universities which were remained closed since August last year, will reopen across the country.
In a video statement, acting minister for education, Abdul Baqi Haqqani said that universities in warmer provinces will reopen from Feb. 2, while the remaining in hilly and cold provinces will reopen from Feb. 26.
However, he didn’t shared more details about the girls students but earlier Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman of the Afghan Taliban said that all girls will come back to the education institutions from new academic year which will start from March.
“We are not against education,” Mujahid said during an interview with AP news agency on Jan. 15.
Taliban leaders repeatedly said that they will allow girls to go back to schools, however currently the new government is facing economic crisis and they are in contact with UN and other countries to help them out in education sector.
