Explosion in mosque in northern Afghanistan, killed 40 worshipers including children

KABUL (TSAT) - At least 40 people were killed in an explosion in a mosque in northern Afghanistan during Friday pary.

According to local officials, the explosives placed inside the mosque which exploded during the Friday prayer time.

“The explosion took place in a mosque in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz this afternoon and terrorists targeted the civilian during the prayer,” Maulana Rauf, a local official told the TSAT.

Earlier, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said 33 worshipers were killed and 43 others wounded.

According to officials among the victims majority are children as the mosque was also used as a religious seminary and at the time of the explosion dozen children were studying there.

On Tuesday, the terrorists targeted a school in Kabul city killing and wounding a dozen students in three explosions.

While on Friday again an IED exploded near Dunya University injuring one civilian.

Earlier on Thursday, the Si-Dukan mosque in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, left dozens of people killed and wounded. The attack in Balkh was claimed by Daesh, according to Tolo News.

The security situation quickly turned to worsen during last one week as terrorists targeted civilians, mostly children in schools and religious places.

Most attacks are claimed by ISIS/Daesh terrorist group in the country as still its militants are hiding in some parts of Afghanistan.

The group is led by Sanaullah Ghafari, AKA Shahab al-Muhajir, a former security guard of Amrullah Salih.

Salih was the former vice president and intelligence chief of Afghanistan and reportedly had close ties with Ghafari.

Pakistani Taliban who are living in eastern Afghanistan have reportdely also joined the Daesh as the group offering them good money.
