3 dead, 3 critically injured in targeted shooting at Rhode Island Ice Rink in US

WASHINGTON - Three people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting at an indoor ice rink in Pawtucket, located in the US state of Rhode Island, authorities confirmed Monday.

Police Chief Tina Goncalves said two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while three others remain hospitalized in critical condition. The suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The gunman, born in 1969, was identified as Robert Dorgan, who also used the names Roberta and Esposito. Investigators believe the incident, which unfolded during a high school boys’ hockey game at Lynch Arena, was a targeted attack possibly linked to a family dispute.

Goncalves added that a bystander intervened during the chaos, likely helping bring the violence to a swift end.

Governor Dan McKee said he is closely monitoring developments, expressing heartbreak for the victims, their families, and the wider community impacted by the tragedy.
