ISTANBUL (AA) - The Iraqi army on Thursday condemned a US-led coalition drone strike on an Iraqi security force in the capital Baghdad as a “dangerous escalation.”

In a statement, military spokesman Yahya Rasoul said the US-led international coalition bears responsibility “for an unjustified attack on the security force.”

“In a blatant assault and blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and security, a drone carried out an act that is not different from terrorist acts, targeting one of the security headquarters in Baghdad, which led to casualties in this completely rejected incident,” he added.

"We view this act as a dangerous escalation and an assault on Iraq, diverging from the spirit, the mandate and the mission for which the coalition was established in Iraq," the spokesman added.

There was no comment from the US-led coalition on the incident.
