Turkish president says ‘fascist practices’ in west against Russian unacceptable

ANKARA (TSAT) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan rejected the ongoing hatred against Russia in western countries and said such “fascist practices” are not acceptable.

Speaking at an event, President Erdogan called the actions against Russian people, arts, scholars, and artists in the west "a witch-hunt” and said he rejected such moves.

"Just as we would not abandon Ukraine, we also do not accept actions akin to a witch-hunt against the Russian people, literature, students or artists," Anadolu Agency, a global Turkish news agency quoted the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying.

Citing Germany's Munich Philharmonic firing a Russian conductor over his support for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Erdogan said such "fascist practices" cast a shadow over Ukraine's "legitimate struggle" in resisting Russian troops by fueling a "climate of hatred and grudges and sowing new grievances,” according to the agency.

Turkish President also called for immediate reforms in the UN Security Council and said in the current crisis the UN body falling short in taking action to stop wars.

According to the agency quoted reports, western countries blocking the African and Asian refugees while only allowing Ukraine.

President Erdogan said that a mindset that discriminates against the oppressed based on their religion, national origin, or skin color has nothing to do with humanity or civilization.

Ankara never labeled those fleeing war and persecution according to their language, religion, or skin color, he said.

Turkiye hosts over 4 million refugees, most of them coming from war-torn Syria, more than any country in the world, according to AA.
