Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, his wife tested positive for COVID-19

ANKARA (TSAT) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the First Lady tested positive for COVID-19 after his recent visit to Ukraine.

“Today my wife and I tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms. Thankfully, we’re experiencing slight symptoms that we have learned is the omicron variant,” he tweeted on Saturday.

 

“We are on duty. We will continue to work at home. We look forward to your prayers.”

 

His post spread sadness among his millions of lovers across the world and #RecepTayyipErdoğan became a top trend on Twitter where people expressed sympathies with him and praying for his early recovery.

 

World leaders also conveyed their messages on Twitter and wished him for swift and early recovery.

"I just learnt that my brother Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey and Madame Emine Erdogan tested positive for Covid-19 Omicron. On behalf of our government, the people of Pakistan and on my own behalf I wish them a swift and complete recovery," Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan tweeted.

 

While Pakistani President Dr Arif Alvi also wrote on Twitter that he and Fırst Lady Begum Samina Alavi pray for the speedy recovery of Turkish President and his wife .

 

"Pakistanis including me pray to Allah to grant them perfect health and long life. Amen" Alvi wrote. 

 

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev also spoke with his Turkish counterpart and wished him and his wife good health and speedy recovery from the infection.
