Turkish Airlines plane catches fire during landing in Kathmandu airport in Nepal, all passengers safe

KATHMANDU, Nepal – A Turkish Airlines aircraft caught fire while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Monday after arriving from Istanbul, officials said.

 

The plane, which had been carrying passengers from the Turkish capital, burst into flames upon touchdown. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated through the aircraft’s emergency slides as airport firefighters rushed to the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze.

 

“All passengers are safe,” a senior airport official confirmed, adding that no injuries have been reported so far.

 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities have temporarily suspended operations at the Kathmandu airport as emergency crews continue to assess the situation.
