Trump says deal near with Iran, thanks Pakistan: ‘A great and brilliant day for the world’

By The South Asia Times

WASHINGTON - Declaring "a great and brilliant day for the world," US President Donald Trump announced from Arizona that talks with Iran are in their final stages, with a deal expected soon that would formally end the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

"We've had some very good discussions," Trump told reporters. "Talks are going on. It'll go on over the weekend - and a lot of good things are happening."

In a series of posts on social media, Trump thanked Pakistan and its leadership, naming both the "Great Prime Minister and Field Marshall" as "two fantastic people." He praised Pakistan's role to helped facilitate communications.

According to Trump, Iran has already announced the Strait of Hormuz is "fully open and ready for business." However, he clarified that the U.S. naval blockade will remain "in full force and effect until such time as our transaction is 100% complete."

Central to the emerging agreement, Trump said, is that the United States will take possession of all "Nuclear Dust" created by American B-2 bombers -- a reference, he implied, to remnants from any dismantled or destroyed nuclear material. He stressed that no money will exchange hands "in any way, shape, or form," and that the core principle is Iran's commitment to "NEVER have a nuclear weapon."

Trump also claimed he rejected a late offer of assistance from NATO. "I received a call from NATO asking if we would like some help... and I told them, 'I would have liked your help two months ago, but now, I really don't want your help anymore.'" He later added, "They were useless when needed, a Paper Tiger!"

Turning to regional allies, Trump said Israel is now "PROHIBITED" by the United States from bombing Lebanon. "Enough is enough!!!" he wrote, adding that Washington will work separately with Lebanon to address the "Hezbollah situation in an appropriate manner."

The president also noted that President Xi of China is "very happy" that the Strait of Hormuz is open, and predicted their upcoming meeting in China would be "special and, potentially, Historic."

"As soon as the agreement gets signed, that's when the blockade ends," Trump reiterated. "Iran, with the help of the U.S.A., has removed, or is removing, all sea mines! Thank you!"

No official reaction has yet come from Tehran, Beijing, or NATO regarding Trump's statements.
