PM Shehbaz, Iranian President Pezeshkian Meet on Sidelines of Arab–Islamic Summit in Doha

DOHA — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit in Doha, convened in response to Israel’s recent attack on Qatar.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also attended the meeting.

According to officials, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s “strongest condemnation” of Israel’s September 9 aggression against Qatar, stressing that the summit had sent a unified message from the Muslim world that such actions could no longer be tolerated.

Both leaders expressed solidarity with Qatar and emphasized the need for unity within the Muslim Ummah in the face of Israeli aggression.

Shehbaz recalled President Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Pakistan and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation with Tehran across all areas of mutual interest. He also conveyed warm regards for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei.

President Pezeshkian, for his part, appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support for the Palestinian cause and voiced readiness to work closely with Shehbaz to further strengthen bilateral ties.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact given the rapidly evolving regional situation.
