Pakistan Denies Air Strikes Inside Afghanistan, Reiterates Commitment Against Terrorism

By Mashal Khan

Islamabad- Pakistan’s military has strongly rejected claims by Afghanistan’s acting authorities that Islamabad carried out air strikes inside Khost province, insisting that no such action took place.

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, in a detailed interaction with senior journalists, said Pakistan never targets civilians and only conducts counter-terror operations transparently.

“Pakistan did not carry out any strikes in Afghanistan. Whenever we conduct an operation, we openly announce it to the world. No air strike was conducted in Khost or any other Afghan province,” he affirmed.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s policy is solely against terrorism, not the people of Afghanistan.

“Our issue is with terrorists and those supporting them from across the border — not with the Afghan public,” he said, adding that support for cross-border terrorism remains the “biggest challenge.”

The military spokesperson called on the Afghan interim government to take “verifiable action” against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) sanctuaries on Afghan soil. He stated that dialogue will not resume until concrete steps are taken against terrorist hideouts.

Lt. Gen. Chaudhry said Pakistan has repeatedly engaged Afghan authorities from 2021 to 2025 and provided “undeniable evidence” of terrorism emanating from Afghan territory.

He also highlighted that weapons left behind in Afghanistan by foreign forces are now being used against Pakistan.

Counter-Terror Operations in Pakistan

The DG ISPR revealed significant progress in counter-terror missions:

Since November 4, 206 terrorists have been killed

From November 4 to present, 4,910 operations conducted in KP and Balochistan

Since January, 67,623 intelligence-based operations carried out

He reiterated that militants responsible for recent suicide attacks were Afghan nationals.

Relations with Afghanistan and India

The DG ISPR criticized the Afghan authorities’ allegations as “baseless,” noting that even the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ social media accounts are reportedly operated from India.

On India, he said that Operation Sandowr had “blackened India’s face,” which explains the “ridiculous statements” emerging from New Delhi. He warned:

“If India attacks, Pakistan’s response will be even harsher.”
