Pakistan claims Indian diplomats active to sabotage OIC foreign ministers summit in Islamabad

By Imran Nasir

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday claimed that India is trying to sabotage the major summit of the Islamic countries’ foreign ministers in Islamabad.

Speaking to a news conference in Islamabad, Qureshi said they are aware of the activities of Indian diplomats and even its high commission in Islamabad to subvert and sabotage the major summit.

"I know that Indian diplomats, the Indian High Commission even in Islamabad are working round the clock to subvert and sabotage the 48 sessions," Qureshi said.

"Now the question is that they have their own design, they are feeling very uncomfortable that the Kashmir issue will be raised by Pakistan, and Pakistan will raise with force and determination and that's why they create this uncertainty,” Pakistan top diplomat added while referring the current political crisis in the country.

The opposition parties in Pakistan last week submitted a no-trust motion in the parliament against Prime Minister Imran Khan to topple his government  after his recent visit to Moscow and publically criticised the US and NATO ambassadors in Islamabad who wrote  an open letter to his government asking to condemn Russia attack on Ukraine.

Qureshi said the OIC foreign ministers gathering in Islamabad on March 22 and 23, is an important event where the Muslim countries would discuss the current security and economic situation around the Muslim world.

“The proposed theme of the 48th Session, “Partnering for Unity, Justice, and Development” fully encapsulates these priorities. We will seek to build ‘partnerships’ across the Islamic world, and build bridges of cooperation to address the myriad of challenges confronting the Ummah,” Pakistan foreign minister said.

Qureshi said the OIC had taken a very firm stand on the issue of Palestine and Indian Occupied Kashmir and he hoped that Islamabad intends to get a ministerial resolution passed on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

He added that so far 48 foreign ministers have confirmed their participation in the meeting.

  • Pakistan rejects India missile inquiry

Qureshi also rejected the Indian government's announcement to form a court of inquiry to investigate the missile that accidentally entered Pakistan airspace and said Islamabad need answers to several questions.

"Last night I spoke with the UN Secretary General and also wrote letters to him and the President of the UN Security Council about the blatant violation of the Pakistan airspace," Qureshi said.

Qureshi requested the UN Security Council to take immediate action and ask India for a joint probe with Pakistan

He said New Delhi need to explain the measures and procedures in place to prevent accidental missile launches and the particular circumstances of this incident.

“India explains the type and specifications of the missile that fell inside their territory,” he said and added that New Delhi needs to explain the flight path, trajectory of the accidentally launched missile, and how it ultimately turned and entered Pakistan.

"We also need an answer from India was the missile equipped with self-destruct mechanism and why did it fail to actualized," he added.

He also questioned the safety of Indian nuclear weapons and said Pakistan and the international community need reassurance about the security and safety of the Indian weapons system and the credibility of its command and control system.

On Friday, New Delhi admitted that during routine maintenance, a technical malfunctioning led to the accidental firing of a missile" that landed in Mian Chunnu town of northeastern Punjab province.

India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that the government has taken a serious note of the incident and ordered a formal high-level inquiry.

However, Pakistan rejected the Indian announcement and demanded a joint probe of the incident.
