Pakistan urges Russia, Ukraine to resolve current conflict through dialogue

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan on Sunday urged the Russia and Ukraine to resolve the ongoing conflict through diloague as war is not interest of anyone. 

 

Speaking with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba over phone, Pakistan top diplomat Shah Mahmood Qureshi said his country's belief that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, according to state-run Radio Pakistan.

 

"Prime Minister Imran Khan in his recent visit to Moscow regretted the latest situation between Russia and Ukraine and said that Pakistan had hoped diplomacy could avert a military conflict. He stressed that conflict is not in anyone's interest, and that the developing countries are always hit the hardest economically, in case of conflict," Qureshi said. 

Qureshi shared Islamabad's perspective in detail, reiterating serious concern at the situation, underscoring the importance of de-escalation, and stressing the indispensability of diplomacy.

He also appreciated the role played by the Ukrainian authorities in the evacuation process of Pakistani students and asked for continued facilitation and smooth border crossing at the earliest possible.

Qureshi also spoke with UK Minister of state Tariq Ahmad and emphasized that Ukraine crisis should be resolved through diplomacy and a peaceful ways
