Pakistan political crisis, opposition submit 'no-confidence motion' against prime minister Imran khan ahead of OIC foreign ministers summit

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan opposition parties on Tuesday has submitted the no-confidence motion against the country's Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The two major opposition parties, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party along with other small groups submitted the motion in the parliament secretariat.

According to the country constitution, the speaker of the parliament has a maximum of 14 days to summon a session if 20% of members of the parliament submit a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.

Khan's government was under huge criticism over its economic policies and price hike in the country for the last two years.

However, things sharply changed following his recent visit to Russia which was widely covered by the international media and analysts called his visit a big policy shift of Islamabad from the west.

The timing of the opposition parties' move also created doubt as a political crisis created just two weeks ahead of the OIC Foreign Ministers meeting, which is scheduled in Islamabad on March 22.23.

The political crisis could damage the country's efforts to host the Islamic countries' top diplomats in its capital city.
