ISLAMABAD - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday on his maiden state visit, where he was received at Noor Khan Airbase by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was warmly welcomed at Noor Khan Airbase with a red-carpet reception and a 21-gun salute.

The visit, at the invitation of Prime Minister Sharif, marks President Tokayev’s first official trip to Pakistan and includes a high-level delegation of senior Cabinet ministers and officials from Kazakhstan.

During his stay, he is scheduled to meet with the President of Pakistan, hold talks with the Prime Minister, and address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum.

Kassym is the first president of Kazakhstan to visit the South Asian country in the last 23 years.

Officials said the visit provides a timely opportunity for both countries to review bilateral relations and explore new avenues for cooperation in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. Discussions are also expected to cover collaboration at regional and international forums.

The state visit reflects the strengthening ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, highlighting their shared commitment to converting historic and cultural affinities into practical cooperation and promoting peace and progress in the region.
