Pakistan Condemns Indian Religious Intimidation In Kashmir

By Imran Nasir

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has strongly condemned the profiling of mosques and mosque management committees in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), as Indian authorities collecting personal details, photographs, and sectarian affiliations of religious functionaries.

In a statement, Pakistan Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the move, calling it a blatant violation of religious freedom and an attempt to intimidate the Muslim population in the occupied territory.

“Pakistan condemns the reported profiling of mosques and mosque management committees in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). This blatant intrusion into religious affairs constitutes a grave violation of the fundamental right to freedom of religion and belief, and reflects yet another coercive attempt to intimidate and marginalize the Muslim population of the occupied territory,” said the ministry.

The statement added that these measures, including the forcible collection of personal details and photographs of religious leaders, amount to systematic harassment intended to instill fear among worshippers. Pakistan also criticized what it called the “institutionalised Islamophobia driven by the Hindutva ideology of the occupying Indian government,” highlighting the discriminatory and communal nature of these policies.

“People of Jammu and Kashmir possess an inalienable right to practice their religion without fear, coercion, or discrimination,” the statement read, pledging that Pakistan will continue to stand in solidarity with Kashmiris and raise its voice against all forms of religious persecution and intolerance targeting them.
