Pakistan tells Iran dialogue and diplomacy only path to peaceful resolution as top diplomats speak over phone

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to diplomacy as the only viable path to resolving regional tensions during a high-level contact with Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said on Monday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a late-night telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araqchi, focusing on the evolving regional situation and Islamabad’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability.

According to the statement, Araqchi appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive role” and its sincere mediation efforts amid heightened tensions in the region. Dar reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to fostering constructive engagement, stressing that “dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path” toward achieving lasting peace.

The call follows Araqchi’s recent visit to Pakistan, where he held meetings with top Pakistani leadership to discuss the regional crisis and explore avenues for de-escalation. Officials said the visit and continued diplomatic contacts reflect Islamabad’s active role in facilitating dialogue between key stakeholders.

Pakistan has stepped up its diplomatic outreach in recent weeks as tensions linked to the Middle East situation continue to impact regional stability and global energy markets.
