Pakistan condemns US, Israeli attacks on Iran, urges immediate return to diplomacy

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has strongly condemned the United States and Israeli attacks on Iran, warning that the escalation threatens regional peace and stability and undermines ongoing diplomatic efforts.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad expressed regret over the breakdown of talks and the outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East.

“Pakistan condemns the unwarranted attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the statement said, adding that the strikes came at a time when diplomatic efforts were underway to reach a peaceful and negotiated solution.

The Foreign Office warned that such actions could destabilize the entire region with far-reaching consequences and emphasized the need to uphold international law and the principles of the UN Charter. Pakistan called on all sides to immediately resume diplomacy and pursue a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

At the same time, Pakistan also condemned Iranian attacks on what it described as “brotherly countries,” including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The statement termed these actions as violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Gulf states and urged maximum restraint.

Islamabad further confirmed the death of a Pakistani national in the UAE during the attacks and expressed condolences over the loss of life.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a series of diplomatic engagements with regional counterparts amid the rapidly evolving situation.

He spoke with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, and Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.

In separate conversations, the leaders exchanged views on the deteriorating regional situation, expressed serious concern over the unfolding developments, and agreed to remain in close contact. Discussions with Qatari and Emirati officials also underscored the urgent need for de-escalation following reported attacks in their territories.

Dar also received a call from Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which both sides reviewed the evolving situation in Iran and the wider region. Pakistan reiterated its condemnation of the attacks on Iran and called for an immediate halt to further escalation through renewed diplomatic engagement.

The statements and diplomatic outreach reflect Islamabad’s effort to balance condemnation of cross-border attacks while advocating restraint and dialogue amid one of the most serious regional crises in recent years.
