Pakistan rejects India’s ‘propaganda,’ urges responsible conduct

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan on Thursday rejected what it described as India’s “baseless allegations and propaganda” linking Islamabad to the last year's Pahalgam incident, calling for responsible conduct amid ongoing regional tensions.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said it was “deplorable” that India had launched a fresh campaign against Pakistan at a time when Islamabad, alongside international partners, is engaged in diplomatic efforts to promote regional and global peace.

The ministry accused India of using such claims for “narrow domestic political gains,” adding that the allegations followed what it called a “befitting reply” to India’s actions during last year’s Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.

It further said that India’s narrative aimed to divert attention from its policies in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including the denial of the right to self-determination in violation of United Nations resolutions.

Islamabad also criticized New Delhi’s regional posture, citing “inflammatory rhetoric,” military build-up, and its decision to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, which it said contravenes international law.

Pakistan urged the international community to encourage India to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could undermine ongoing efforts for peace and stability in the region.
