France, Pakistan discuss regional security and defence cooperation

ISLAMABAD - France’s Secretary General for Defence and National Security Nicolas Roche met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, Pakistan’s military said.
Roche, accompanied by French Ambassador to Pakistan Jean-Noël Poirier, held talks with Munir at Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The meeting covered matters of mutual interest, including regional security and bilateral cooperation in defence and security, the statement said.
Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with France and expanding cooperation in defence and security.
Roche acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace and stability and expressed France’s interest in expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, according to the ISPR.
The meeting comes as Pakistan seeks to deepen security partnerships with international partners amid continuing regional security challenges.
