ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan along with a high level delegation departed on his four days visit to China on Thursday.

Khan will participate in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics games 2022 along with other world leaders to show solidarity with its “all weather” friend as some western countries including the US had announced to boycott from the olympics games and will not send their diplomates.

During his stay in Beijing, Khan will also meet with Chines President Xi Jinping and Russian President Putin.

Khan will be the first world leader to hold face-to-face meeting with Xi during last two year as he didn’t met with any world leader after the pandemic outbreak in his country in December 2019.

“In his visit from February 3 to 6,2022 Prime Minister Khan will hold bilateral meetings with Chines President and Premier Li Keqiang and both sides would review the entire gamut of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on stronger trade and economic cooperation including CPEC,” said the foreign ministry in a statement.

Pakistan and China will also have a wide-ranging exchange of views on major regional and international issues. “A number of MoUs and agreements would be concluded during the visit,” it said.

In his visit Prime Minister Khan would also meet prominent business leaders of China and representatives of leading Chinese think-tanks, academia and the media.

“The Prime Minister visit would mark the culmination of celebrations commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, with more than 140 events organized to showcase the resilience of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the unfolding international situation,” the ministry added.

According to Foreign office the Prime Minster Visit will renew the bilateral commitment to taking the iron-clad partnership between Pakistan and China to new heights and add impetus to cooperation across multiple domains.

Pakistan also appreciated China for meticulous arrangements to hold the Winter Olympic Games despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
