Pakistan International Airline announces direct flights for Azerbaijan from next month

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan state-run Airline on Thursday has announced to start its direct flights for Azerbaijan from next month after Baku resume e-visa for Pakistani nationals.

 

In a statement, Pakistan International Airline said that they will operate two weekly flights from Lahore and Karachi to Baku from next month.

 

The first flight will leave for Baku, capital city of Azerbaijan on March 16 from Karachi while the second flight will depart on March 19 from Lahore., said the airline in a statement.  

 

The announcement came after Azerbaijan government decision to resume e-visa for Pakistani nationals on Tuesday. 

 

"Happy to announce that #Azerbaijan 🇦🇿is open to brotherly #Pakistan 🇵🇰 now. E-visa system is applicable to all. Welcome to Azerbaijan," Khazar Farhadov, Azerbaijan ambassador to Pakistan tweeted. 

 

Earlier, Pakistan envoy to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee said that both countries have worked to start direct flights and soon it will commenced.

 

Pakistan and Azerbaijan have close ties and the direct flights will help to boost tourism in both countries as thousand people were waiting for visa resumption and direct flights between Baku and Islamabad.
