#BREAKING Pakistan confirms airstrikes on militant hideouts in Afghanistan

By The South Asia Times

PESHAWAR, Pakistan- Pakistan has officially confirmed that it carried out targeted airstrikes on militant hideouts inside Afghanistan, describing the action as a “retributive response” to recent deadly attacks on its soil.

According to a statement, issuedby Pakistan Information Ministry on late Saturday night,  the strikes targeted camps and facilities used by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to by authorities as Fitna al Khwarij (FAK), its affiliates, and the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP). The operation focused on sites in Barmal district of Paktika province along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Security sources said infrastructure and operational facilities were destroyed, including a camp allegedly linked to the militant faction Majlis-e-Askari Karwan. Officials further claimed that hundreds of militants, including several high-value commanders, were killed during the operation.

Afghan broadcaster TOLO News, citing local Taliban officials, reported that Pakistani airstrikes hit multiple locations in Paktika and Nangarhar provinces.

In its statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information said the strikes followed recent suicide bombings in Islamabad, Bajaur and Bannu, including an attack on an Imam Bargah during the holy month of Ramzan. The government said it had “conclusive evidence” linking the attacks to Afghanistan-based militant leadership.

Islamabad stated it had repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban authorities to prevent the use of Afghan territory by groups targeting Pakistan but alleged that no substantive action had been taken.

Reaffirming its position, Pakistan said that while it remains committed to regional peace and stability, the safety and security of its citizens is its foremost priority. It also called on the interim Afghan government to honor its commitments under the Doha Agreement and prevent the use of its soil for cross-border attacks.
