Pakistan Security Forces Thwart Infiltration Attempt at Afghanistan Border, Eliminate 16 Militants
By The South Asia Times
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by a group of militants attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, eliminating all 16 insurgents in an intense exchange of fire. The operation took place in the Ghulam Khan Kallay area of North Waziristan District, as confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the ISPR, the movement of the militant group, referred to as ‘Khwarij,’ was detected by security forces before they could cross into Pakistani territory. Prompt action by Pakistani troops resulted in a fierce gun battle, ultimately neutralizing all infiltrators.
Border Security Concerns
Pakistan has consistently raised concerns with the Interim Afghan Government, urging them to ensure effective border management on their side to prevent such infiltration attempts. The statement from ISPR reiterated that Afghanistan must not allow its territory to be used by terrorists to launch attacks against Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Commitment to Counterterrorism
The successful operation underscores Pakistan’s firm stance on securing its borders and eradicating the threat of terrorism. Security forces remain vigilant and committed to ensuring national security by preventing any attempts by militant groups to destabilize the region, it said.
“The security forces of Pakistan are determined and remain committed to securing the borders and eliminating the menace of terrorism from the country,” the ISPR statement emphasized.
This latest engagement highlights the ongoing security challenges along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and reinforces Pakistan’s call for stronger cooperation from the Afghan authorities to prevent terrorist activities originating from Afghan soil.
The incident also underscores the continued resolve of Pakistani forces in safeguarding national sovereignty and maintaining regional stability.
