Pakistan Urges Taliban to Refrain from Commenting on Its Internal Affairs

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday strongly rebuked recent remarks made by the spokesperson of the Taliban regime concerning Pakistan’s internal matters, urging Kabul to focus on its own domestic priorities.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said it had “noted the recent statements made by the spokesperson of the Taliban regime regarding Pakistan's internal affairs,” emphasizing that Afghanistan should respect the principle of non-interference in line with international diplomatic norms.

“We strongly encourage the Afghan spokesperson to prioritize issues pertinent to Afghanistan and refrain from commenting on matters outside their jurisdiction. Pakistan does not require outside advice on its internal matters,” the statement said.

Islamabad also reminded the Taliban of its commitments under the Doha Process, urging the regime not to allow Afghan territory to be used for terrorism against other countries.

“The regime should focus on forming an inclusive and representative government instead of engaging in baseless propaganda,” the ministry added.

The response came after Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid on Monday expressed concern over alleged violence against protesters in Pakistan’s Punjab province, urging Islamabad to handle the situation peacefully through dialogue.
