ISLAMABAD— The Government of Pakistan on Saturday has awarded the prestigious Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) to General Michael E. Kurilla, Commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), in recognition of his pivotal role in strengthening military cooperation and promoting regional stability.

In a formal ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Asif Ali Zardari presented the honour to General Kurilla, commending his efforts in enhancing strategic defence ties between Pakistan and the United States.

The CENTCOM chief was also given a Tri-Services Guard of Honour on arrival.

According to an official statement, the award highlights General Kurilla’s “visionary leadership” in fostering mutual understanding, counterterrorism collaboration, and robust military-to-military engagement between the two nations.

During his visit, General Kurilla held key meetings with Pakistani leadership, including President Zardari and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Talks focused on regional security, joint counterterrorism efforts, and emerging transnational threats.

The decoration underscores Pakistan’s deep appreciation for General Kurilla’s commitment to regional peace and marks a reaffirmation of the enduring Pakistan–U.S. strategic military partnership.
