Pakistan Confirms Trump Invited PM Shehbaz Sharif to Join Gaza Peace Board

By Khushal Khan

Islamabad — Pakistan on Sunday confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has received an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the newly announced Gaza Peace Board, signaling Islamabad’s inclusion in a US-led diplomatic initiative aimed at ending the conflict and advancing a political settlement.

In response to media queries, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the invitation had been formally conveyed by the U.S. president.

“Pakistan will remain engaged with international efforts for peace and security in Gaza, leading to a lasting solution to the Palestine issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions,” he said.

Trump announced the formation of the Gaza Peace Board on Friday night, unveiling what he described as a 20-point plan focused on ending hostilities, stabilizing Gaza, facilitating humanitarian access, and laying the groundwork for a longer-term political process.

The initiative follows a UN Security Council resolution adopted in November, which called for steps toward de-escalation, protection of civilians, and renewed diplomatic efforts.

According to officials familiar with the outreach, Trump has invited several regional and international leaders to participate in the board, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, alongside leaders from key Muslim-majority countries and other stakeholders seen as influential in Middle East diplomacy.

Islamabad’s confirmation underscores Pakistan’s stated commitment to multilateral diplomacy on Palestine and Gaza, with officials reiterating support for a solution anchored in UN resolutions and international law. Further details on the board’s structure, timeline, and Pakistan’s prospective role were not disclosed.
