Pakistan condemns attacks on Türkiye and Azerbaijan, urges dialogue to prevent escalation

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has expressed serious concern over recent attacks targeting Türkiye and Azerbaijan, warning that such actions risk further destabilizing the region and violating international law.

In a statement, Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, said the attacks against the two countries were contrary to the principles governing relations between states and could push the region toward greater escalation.

“Pakistan expresses serious concern over the recent attacks targeting the brotherly countries, Türkiye and Azerbaijan,” he said, reaffirming Islamabad’s strong solidarity with both nations.

Dar also held a telephone conversation with Jeyhun Bayramov, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, to discuss the latest developments. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the two leaders voiced concern over the deteriorating regional situation, including reported drone strikes targeting Azerbaijan earlier in the day.

During the call, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s support for Azerbaijan and its people, stressing the urgent need for restraint and de-escalation. He emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy remain essential for maintaining regional peace and stability.

Both sides agreed to remain in close contact as the situation continues to evolve, underscoring the importance of coordinated diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
