Pakistan Rejects Indian PM’s “Baseless and Provocative” Allegations, Urges Restraint and Dialogue

By The South Asia Times

Islamabad — Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has issued a strong rebuttal to recent remarks made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public address in Rajasthan, categorically rejecting what it described as "baseless, provocative, and irresponsible" allegations.

In an official statement released on Friday , the Foreign Office criticized the Indian Prime Minister’s speech, calling it a calculated attempt to stoke regional tensions for political gain. The remarks, which included aggressive rhetoric and suggestions of military action, were deemed by Islamabad to be in clear violation of the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law.

“These statements are replete with distortions and inflammatory language,” the statement read. “They reflect a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and escalate tensions in the region.”

Pakistan emphasized that it remains a steadfast partner in the global fight against terrorism and rejected any insinuation linking the country to acts of terrorism as “factually incorrect and patently misleading.” The ministry further accused India of using such narratives to deflect attention from its internal challenges and alleged human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

“The plight of the Kashmiri people and their just struggle for self-determination cannot be obscured by aggressive rhetoric and political deflection,” the statement asserted.

Calling on Indian leadership to demonstrate maturity, Pakistan urged for de-escalation and a return to dialogue. “Escalatory statements and belligerent posturing serve no purpose other than exacerbating tensions,” it said. “Rather than resorting to fictitious narratives and warmongering for electoral mileage, India should resolve outstanding disputes through peaceful means.”

Reaffirming its commitment to peace and regional stability, Pakistan warned that its desire for peace should not be mistaken for weakness. “The people of Pakistan and its armed forces are fully prepared and capable of defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement declared, adding that any misadventure would be met with a “resolute and proportionate response.”

The ministry also called on the international community to take serious note of India’s "aggressive posture and hate-driven narratives," warning that such rhetoric threatens peace in South Asia.

“The glorification of conflict benefits no one,” the statement concluded. “The path to lasting peace lies in dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law.”
