DOHA — Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Qatar on Monday for a one-day official visit to convey condolences following the death of the country's former ruler, accompanied by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The Pakistani delegation was received at Doha's Hamad International Airport by Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani.

During the visit, Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold talks at Lusail Palace with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

According to Pakistan's Prime Minister's Office, the prime minister will extend Pakistan's heartfelt condolences to the Amir, the Qatari royal family, and the people of Qatar over the passing of the country's former Amir, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The visit underscores the close diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Qatar, which maintain strong cooperation in trade, investment, energy, defense, and labor. Qatar is also home to a large Pakistani expatriate community that contributes significantly to bilateral economic relations.

Accompanying the prime minister are Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Attaullah Tarar.
