Pakistan Air Force Successfully Tests Indigenously Developed Taimoor Cruise Missile

RAWALPINDI — The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, marking a major milestone in the country’s aerospace and defence capabilities, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Saturday.

The Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile is designed to engage both land and sea targets with high precision at a range of 600 kilometers, carrying a conventional warhead. Equipped with advanced navigation and guidance systems, the missile is capable of flying at very low altitudes, allowing it to evade hostile air and missile defence systems while providing Pakistan Air Force with enhanced operational flexibility and conventional deterrence.

The launch, witnessed by senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces and the scientists and engineers involved in its development, demonstrates the technical maturity, innovation, and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence industry.

Pakistan President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Asim Munir and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, congratulated the PAF team and the scientists for their “professional excellence, dedication, and unwavering commitment” to strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities. He described the successful test as a reflection of the nation’s determination to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain a credible conventional deterrent in a changing regional security environment.

The test of the Taimoor weapon system underscores the PAF’s ongoing pursuit of operational readiness, technological superiority, and national security objectives, and is expected to significantly enhance Pakistan’s conventional military capabilities.
