North Korea Fires Likely 2 Ballistic Missile; Japan and South Korea Confirm Launch

SEOUL/TOKYO -  North Korea on Tuesday fired two likely ballistic missile toward the East Sea, with both South Korea and Japan confirming the launch.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported detecting the projectile but did not provide further details on its exact type or trajectory.

Japanese news agency Kyodo cited authorities saying the missile is likely ballistic and Japanese Coast Guard said the projectiles have already fallen into the sea

Following the launch, Japan’s Prime Minister instructed agencies to gather and analyze information, inform the public promptly, ensure the safety of aircraft and vessels.

This marks the second North Korean missile launch since Jan. 4, when it fired ballistic missiles toward the East.
