#BREAKING Iran says Oman agreement does not mean Strait of Hormuz will reopen

TEHRAN - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said an agreement with Oman does not automatically mean the Strait of Hormuz will reopen, as negotiations over passage through the strategic waterway continue.

According to Iran’s Fars news agency, Araghchi said talks with Oman were nearing their final stages, while authorities were working on a temporary passage route based on a map prepared by Iran’s armed forces.

He said reopening the Strait would depend on additional conditions and compensation for what Tehran describes as a US violation of the agreement.

Meanwhile, US Central Command said 51 commercial vessels had been redirected, two disabled and two boarded as part of a US naval blockade of Iran.

Separately, Iraq is discussing an arrangement with Iran to maintain Iraqi oil exports, Reuters reported, citing Iraqi Oil Minister Basim Mohammed. The proposed mechanism has not yet been activated.
