Iran offers to share ‘experience of defeating US’ with SCO member states

By The South Asia Times

BISHKEK — Iran has declared it is ready to share its combat experience from the recent war against the United States and Israel with member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), state-run Tasnim News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Brigadier General Reza Talaee Nik, Iran’s Deputy Defense Minister, made the announcement after arriving in Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek to attend a meeting of SCO defense ministers. He was received by General Talantbek Talipov, commander of Kyrgyzstan’s Air Defense Forces.

“We are ready to share the experiences of America’s defeat with other members of the organization,” Talaee Nik said, according to Tasnim.

The Iranian general asserted that the United States is “no longer in a position to dictate its policies to independent nations,” adding that this reality has been made clear to the world through “the resilience of the Iranian people and Armed Forces during the recent US-Israeli war of aggression.”

He further stated that Washington will ultimately have to accept abandoning its “unlawful and unreasonable demands,” and noted that “today many around the world regard the US and the Zionist regime as symbols of state terrorism.”

Talaee Nik emphasized that while Iran remains ready to ensure strong defense and meet the needs of its Armed Forces, it is also prepared to share its defensive military capabilities with independent countries — particularly SCO members.

On the sidelines of the SCO gathering, the Iranian deputy minister held separate meetings with defense ministers from Russia, Pakistan, Belarus, and the host country Kyrgyzstan to discuss enhanced military cooperation.

The war between Iran and the US-Israeli alliance lasted from late February to early April 2026, ending with a ceasefire that remains in effect. During the 39-day conflict, Iran launched waves of drones and missiles at US bases across the region as well as Israeli sites, while also shooting down US aerial targets, including an F-15 fighter and an A-10 attacker.

The SCO is a Eurasian political, security, and economic alliance that includes China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, and four Central Asian republics. Iran became a full member in July 2023.
