ISTANBUL (AA) – The Indonesia Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip will cease to function as fuel will run out within 24 hours for generators, its director warned on Wednesday.

“Generators will run out of fuel in 24 hours,” Atef al-Kahlout said in statements.

He said that the main generator at the hospital had already stopped.

“If the hospital is not supplied with fuel in the next 24 hours, its operations will come to a complete halt,” al-Kahlout warned.

He appealed to the United Nations, WHO, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to intervene to secure safe passages for injured Palestinians to the southern Gaza Strip to be transported to Egypt for treatment.

Israel refuses any fuel shipments into the Gaza Strip until hostages held by Hamas are released.

Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.

At least 10,328 Palestinians, including 4,237 children and 2,719 women, have been killed since then. The Israeli death toll, meanwhile, is nearly 1,600, according to official figures.

Besides the large number of casualties and massive displacements, basic supplies are running low for Gaza’s 2.3 million residents due to the Israeli siege.
