Indonesian President Prabowo to Pay First Official Visit to Pakistan on Dec 8-9
President Prabowo will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising key ministers and senior officials, according to Pakistan foreign ministry.
His visit follows the last presidential-level visit from Indonesia in 2018 by then-President Joko Widodo and is being viewed as a significant milestone in the longstanding bilateral relationship.
During his stay in Islamabad, President Prabowo will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. He is also scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari. Additionally, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, will call on the visiting Indonesian leader.
According to officials, the two sides will discuss a broad range of issues aimed at deepening cooperation in trade, investment, defence, health, information technology, climate change, education and culture. Collaboration at regional and global forums will also be reviewed. Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit to formalise new areas of partnership.
Pakistan and Indonesia enjoy close, cordial and historic relations rooted in shared values, mutual respect and strong people-to-people links. The upcoming visit of President Prabowo is expected to further strengthen these ties and open new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation, contributing to the continued growth and diversification of the Pakistan-Indonesia partnership.
