Imran Khan to announces civil disobedience movement against government

By The South Asia Times

Islamabad, Pakistan — Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has warned to annonce a civil disobedience movement to protest against what he described as “unconstitutional and oppressive policies” of the current government.

According to his party, PTI, Khan has called for nationwide non-cooperation with state institutions and peaceful protests.

Khan is currently in Adiala jail, who was arrested by government last year and facing over hundred politically motivated cases.

“We cannot stand by while the rights of the people are trampled, and the economy is brought to its knees by corruption and incompetence,” Khan said.

Khan warned that he will urge citizens to withhold taxes, utility payments, and other state obligations as part of the campaign if government not fulfil his party demands.

The announcement comes amid escalating tensions between Khan and the ruling coalition, following months of political and legal battles. Khan has accused the government of targeting PTI leaders with politically motivated cases and suppressing dissent.

Government officials have condemned the move, calling it an attempt to destabilize the country.

Observers are closely monitoring the situation, as the civil disobedience movement could have significant implications for Pakistan’s already fragile political and economic stability.
