By The South Asia Times

RAWALPINDI — At least 19 militants were killed in a series of intelligence-based operations carried out by Pakistan’s security forces across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past three days, the military’s media wing said on Friday and Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the latest operation was conducted on Dec. 26 in Panjgur district of Balochistan, where security forces engaged militants belonging to what the military described as an Indian-backed group, Fitna al Khwarij. Following an intense exchange of fire, four militants were killed, while weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the site.

A day earlier, on Dec. 25, five militants linked to another alleged Indian proxy group, Fitna al Hindustan, were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Kohlu district of Balochistan. ISPR said the militants were involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.

On Dec. 24, security forces carried out two separate operations. In the general area of Kulachi in Dera Ismail Khan district, two militants were killed, including a ring leader identified as Dilawar, who was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies and carried a head money of Rs4 million. On the same day, eight militants were killed in an operation in Kalat district of Balochistan after heavy fighting.

The military said sanitisation operations are ongoing in all affected areas to eliminate any remaining militants. ISPR reaffirmed that the counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
