Some European Politicians Undermining Ukraine Peace Efforts: Hungarian Foreign Minister

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD  – Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on Thursday criticized certain European politicians for attempting to derail efforts aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, in Islamabad, Szijjarto expressed dismay over the stance of some European leaders regarding the ongoing conflict, according to Anadolu Agency.

"It's shocking to see that while the entire world—including the Americas, Asia, and Africa—is in favor of restoring peace in Europe, it is some European politicians who are opposing it," he said. "This attitude is unacceptable."

Szijjarto urged European leaders not to obstruct peace initiatives, particularly those led by former U.S. President Donald Trump, aimed at resolving the conflict in Central Europe.

The Hungarian foreign minister arrived in Islamabad earlier on Thursday and held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The two sides agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and economic sectors.

Dar noted that the discussions also covered key regional and international developments, with a special focus on Afghanistan. He announced plans to visit Kabul in the coming days to further improve ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
