Pakistan, China to Hold Important Strategic Dialogue on Sunday as Ishaq Dar Departs for Beijing

ISLAMABAD Pakistan top diplomat Ishaq Dar on Saturday has departed for Beijing to co-chair, with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the 7th Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue on Sunday.

According to the foreign ministry, Senator Dar is the first foreign dignitary to visit China in 2026, responding to an invitation from Wang Yi.

The dialogue, the highest-level consultative mechanism between Pakistan and China, will review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, discuss regional and international developments of mutual interest, and explore new areas of partnership.

Officials said the dialogue will also see the announcement of a series of initiatives and commemorative activities to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026.

 

The visit reflects the shared determination of both nations to broaden and deepen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, while reaffirming their commitment to regional peace, stability, and sustainable development, according to the ministry.

Bilateral trade between Pakistan and China stood at $23 billion in 2024, highlighting the economic dimension of the longstanding partnership.
