Dar Highlights Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ’s Legacy of Peace at OIC High-Level Event

United Nations, New York — Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Monday (US time) underscored the timeless message of peace, justice and compassion embodied by Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) at a special OIC High-Level Event on the Promotion of a Culture of Peace and Tolerance, held at the UN Headquarters in New York. The gathering marked the 1,500th anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)’s birth.

Dar described the occasion as an opportunity to reflect upon the holy Prophet’s transformative philosophy of justice, consultation, tolerance, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts—principles that, he noted how his teachings on justice, consultation, tolerance and peaceful resolution of conflicts resonate deeply with the principles enshrined in the UN Charter.

Citing historical precedents such as the Charter of Medina, the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, and the peaceful conquest of Makkah, the Foreign Minister highlighted their enduring relevance as models of pluralism, dialogue, forgiveness and humanitarian conduct, which he said laid the foundations of modern international law.

Dar also drew attention to contemporary challenges facing the Muslim world, including the conflicts in Palestine and Kashmir and the rising tide of Islamophobia, stressing that these injustices undermine global peace and stability. He urged the OIC to redouble efforts to safeguard Muslims’ inalienable rights and to overcome internal divisions.

Calling for stronger UN-OIC collaboration, Dar emphasized that theProphet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)’s legacy must inspire concrete actions in today’s world—policies that uphold human dignity, equality, and mutual respect. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working with OIC members and the wider international community in advancing this shared vision of peace and tolerance.
