China condemns US strike on Iranian bridge after Trump threatens more attacks

By The South Asia Times

BEIJING - China on Friday strongly condemned the US move to target Iran's biggest bridge and urged to immediately end the ongoing war.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning urged an immediate ceasefire and a return to diplomatic efforts. “China opposes attacks on civilian facilities,” she said, warning of a potential humanitarian disaster, she told reporters in Beijing.

According to media reports citing Iranian state sources, at least eight people were killed and 95 were wounded in the strike, which hit the bridge twice and caused significant structural damage.

Mao also said that military actions carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran were conducted without authorization from the UN Security Council and therefore violate international law.

US President Donald Trump said there would be “much more to follow” after sharing a video of a strike on what he described as Iran’s “biggest bridge,” warning Tehran to make a deal “before it is too late.”

In posts on Truth Social, Trump claimed the bridge had been destroyed and suggested further targets could include power infrastructure, signaling a potential escalation in the conflict with Iran.
