Chinese embassy warns citizens in Iran to stay vigilant, avoid sensitive sites as regional tensions persist

By The South Asia Times

TEHRAN - The Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Iran issued a renewed security alert on Thursday, urging Chinese nationals in the country to exercise maximum caution and avoid sensitive locations, including military and government facilities, amid ongoing regional instability, accoding to Global Times.

The advisory, published on the embassy’s official WeChat account, noted that while parts of Iranian airspace have reopened following recent disruptions, the overall security environment remains “highly uncertain and complex.” Chinese citizens were advised to evacuate or relocate to safer areas if possible, and to strictly follow all safety guidance from Chinese diplomatic missions.

The warning reinforces an earlier travel advisory from China’s Foreign Ministry, which had recommended against all non-essential travel to Iran. The embassy stressed that those who choose to proceed to Iran despite the warning could face “extremely high security risks,” and their ability to receive consular assistance may be significantly compromised.

In case of emergencies, the embassy urged Chinese nationals to immediately contact local police and reach out to Chinese diplomatic missions for support. The statement did not specify a timeline for the advisory but emphasized that the situation remains fluid and could change rapidly.
