#BREAKING Australian Prime Minister Albanese evacuated from official residence after security alert

By The South Asia Times

CANBERRA - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was evacuated from his official residence, The Lodge, in Canberra on Tuesday evening following a reported security threat that prompted a major police response.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) said it responded to an “alleged security incident” at around 6 p.m. local time within the Australian Capital Territory, according to ABC News.

Emergency vehicles were seen outside the prime minister’s residence as authorities secured the area.

Albanese was moved to an alternative secure location for several hours while officers conducted what officials described as a thorough search of the protected establishment.

The operation lasted approximately three hours.

In a statement, the AFP said no suspicious items were found. “There is no current threat to the community or public safety,” the agency said, adding that further information would be released at an appropriate time.

A spokesperson for the prime minister said Albanese was safe and thanked the AFP for its work.
