Seven terrorists killed, six soldiers martyred in Kurram operation: ISPR

By The South Asia Times

Rawalpindi — Pakistan’s security forces killed seven terrorists linked to the Indian-backed militant outfit Fitna al Khwarij during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kurram District, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched in the general area of Dogar following credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists. During the engagement, troops effectively targeted the militants, “sending seven Indian-sponsored Khawarij to hell,” the statement said.

However, in the intense exchange of fire, six Pakistan Army personnel, including a young officer, embraced martyrdom.

The martyred officer was identified as Captain Noman Saleem, 24, a resident of Mianwali. “He was a brave young medical officer who, besides performing his medical duties, fought gallantly until embracing Shahadat,” the ISPR said.

The five other soldiers who laid down their lives were Havildar Amjad Ali (39, Swabi), Naik Waqas Ahmad (36, Rawalpindi), Sepoy Aijaz Ali (23, Shikarpur), Sepoy Muhammad Waleed (23, Jhelum), and Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz (32, Khairpur).

The ISPR added that a sanitization operation was underway in the area to eliminate any remaining militants. “Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism, especially foreign-sponsored elements, from the country,” it said.

The military reiterated its resolve to continue the counterterrorism drive under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign — an initiative approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan — with full intensity to ensure peace and stability.

“Such sacrifices of our brave sons further strengthen our resolve to defeat all enemies of Pakistan and to ensure the safety and security of our people,” the statement concluded.
