RAWALPINDI — Pakistan’s security forces killed 23 militants in two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past two days, the military’s media wing said Tuesday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on November 16 and 17 following reports of militant presence in the region. The militants were linked to what ISPR described as the “Indian proxy terrorist outfit Al Khwarij.”

In Bajaur District, security forces engaged a militant hideout, killing 11 militants, including their alleged ringleader, Sajjad alias Abuzar.

A second operation in Bannu District resulted in the killing of 12 more militants as forces continued their crackdown on terrorist activities in the province.

ISPR said sanitization operations are ongoing to clear any remaining militants in the surrounding areas. It emphasized that the counterterrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue with full force to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism in the country.
