Pakistani forces kill 21 militants in North Waziristan, including four high-value targets

ISLAMABAD - Pakistani security forces have killed 21 militants belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij over the past 72 hours in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military's media wing announced Saturday.

The operations targeted multiple militant locations in the general area of Miran Shah and its surroundings, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Among the dead were four high-value ring leaders identified as Kharji Khalid Raza alias Salar, Kharji Muftoon, Kharji Musa, and Kharji Imran alias Ayan. The ISPR said these individuals were "highly wanted for their involvement in numerous terrorist activities including killing of security forces personnel and innocent civilians."

The latest killings bring the total number of militants eliminated in these "highly skillful and precise operations" to 48, the statement said.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed militants, who remained "actively involved in numerous terrorist activities and killing of innocent civilians," the ISPR added.

Sanitization operations will continue to eliminate remaining militants holed up in the area, the military said.

The operations are being conducted under the vision of "Azm-e-Istehkam" – a counterterrorism campaign approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan.

The ISPR reaffirmed that security forces and law enforcement agencies "will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country."

The term "Khwarij" – derived from the Arabic word for "those who go out" – is used by Pakistani authorities to refer to militant groups that have been outlawed and designated as terrorist organizations.
