By Sajid Khan

ISLAMABAD — Pakistani security forces killed 17 militants during an intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat district overnight, the military said on Saturday.

According to the statement, the operation was launched on reports of the presence of members of Fitna al-Khwarij, an Indian-backed militant network. Troops engaged the hideout and killed 17 militants, recovering a cache of weapons and ammunition.

The militants, described as “Indian-sponsored Khwarij,” were said to have been involved in multiple attacks on security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians in the region. A sanitization operation is continuing to clear the area of any remaining militants.

The military reaffirmed its resolve to eliminate “Indian-sponsored terrorism” from Pakistan.

The operation in Lakki Marwat came just three days after security forces killed 13 militants linked to the same network in Dera Ismail Khan district on September 24.

Pakistan says TTP militants hiding in Afghanistan and plan and carrying out attacks inside akistan from there.
