
16 Pakistani soldiers martyrs 8 terrorist killed in clash near Afghan border

ISLAMABAD - At least 16 Pakistani soldiers were martyred and eight terrorists killed in a clash in Waziristan district near the Afghan border on early Saturday.
In a statement, ISPR said that a group of Khwarij attempted to attack a Security Forces Check Post in general area Makeen, South Waziristan District.
"The attempt was effectively thwarted by own troops and in ensuing fire exchange, eight khwarij were sent to hell. However, during intense fire exchange, Sixteen brave sons of soil, having fought gallantly embraced Shahadat," it said.
"Sanitization operation is being conducted in the area and the perpetrators of the heinous act will be brought to justice. Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve," the military added.
Pakistan accused the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) based in Afghanistan are planning and carrying out attacks inside Pakistan from Afghan soil.
Last week, ISPR said that 43 terrorists were killed during intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
