Pakistan says repulsed Afghan Taliban physical attacks at border, 67 killed

By Imran Nasir

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan said Tuesday it had repelled multiple cross-border attacks by Afghan Taliban, killing at least 67 militants in ongoing clashes along the volatile frontier.

In a special briefing, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Afghan Taliban launched coordinated “physical attacks” on 16 locations in southwestern Balochistan, including Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, and Chaman, while also carrying out fire raids on 25 positions.

Pakistani troops “effectively repulsed” all assaults, he said, adding that 27 militants were killed and scores wounded in Balochistan. One Frontier Corps soldier was martyred, and five others were injured.

In northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tarar said one physical assault and 12 fire raids were thwarted without military casualties, with 40 militants killed in overnight operations.

Security sources said Operation Ghazb lil Haq remains ongoing, with Pakistani ground and air forces targeting what they described as Afghan Taliban and “Fitna al-Khawarij” positions.

They claimed an ammunition depot and drone storage facility in Jalalabad and the Khogani base in Nangarhar province were destroyed.

The latest escalation began Thursday after Afghan Taliban fighters allegedly attacked a Pakistani border post. On Monday, Tarar said the broader operation had inflicted heavy losses, claiming 435 militants killed, more than 630 injured, and dozens of posts and armored assets destroyed.

The casualty figures and battlefield claims could not be independently verified.
