US bombs freshwater plant on Qeshm Island after strikes on schools and hospitals in Iran

TEHRAN - Iran has accused the United States and Israel of targeting civilian infrastructure after airstrikes reportedly hit a freshwater desalination facility on Qeshm Island, disrupting water supplies for thousands of residents.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said in a post on X that the attack struck a desalination plant that supplies drinking water to about 30 villages. He described the strike as a “blatant and desperate crime” and warned that attacks on critical infrastructure could have serious consequences.
"Attacking Iran's infrastructure is a dangerous move with grave consequences. The U.S. set this precedent, not Iran," he said.
Iranian officials say the attacks have also hit civilian facilities, including schools and hospitals in Tehran and other cities. Authorities reported that a girls’ primary school was struck, killing 168 students aged between four and ten, while another strike on a boys’ elementary school in Tehran killed more than 40 children.
Videos circulating online also show heavy damage to Gandhi Hospital, which Iranian officials say was destroyed in the strikes.
Iran says more than 1,050 civilians, including women and children, have been killed since the US–Israeli campaign began.
